Noise Reduction is a program package for Windows that allows you to analyze and remove background noise from your sound recordings. It consists of four plugins for ACID Pro dedicated to the elimination of a wide variety of clicks, crackles, pops.

General notes

This application is designed to help you examine and eliminate various types of noises such as electrical hum, tape hiss and machinery rumble from the recorded audio tracks. In contrast to ordinary filters, this utility can do so without removing any part of the source material.

This is accomplished by separating the sound recording into frequency components and using a printing technique to separate noise from the desired signal. A special noise-print is created by analyzing a specific part of the recorded track. The plugin automatically stores frequency and amplitude data.

Once you have generated a noise-print, you are able to adjust it by removing parts of the frequency spectrum. However, in most cases manual configuration is not really necessary.

Noise reduction modes

In general, Mode 0 offers the cleanest audio quality, but may sound somewhat unnatural and electronic when the noise level is high. Mode 3 is best suited for creating the most natural recordings. Modes 1 and 2 are a compromise between the aforementioned modes.
