MuseScore is an open source Windows software that enables users to edit musical tablatures. With the help of the program, you can compose parts for piano, guitar and other instruments. Similar to Cubase, it allows you to enter notes using a MIDI keyboard.

Working on projects

After starting the program, you will be prompted to create a new score. You need to enter the title, subtitle, the name of the composer and author of the lyrics. Next, you have the option to choose a template. The following ready-made layouts are available:

jazz;
orchestra and percussion;
popular music.

Then you can compile a list of instruments, as well as specify the number and time signature of the bars. It is worth noting that you are able to edit all the aforementioned parameters during the creation of the score. Moreover, the software includes a built-in synthesizer that allows you to play and listen to the recorded composition.

Musical notes and symbols

After setting up your workspace, you can add notes, chords, and other elements by dragging them onto the note staff. It is possible to enter data both manually or automatically. After you have finished creating, you are able to export the result in a wide range of formats.
