Movie Outline is a Windows application for writing movie screenplays. It provides instruments for creating detailed story outlines using color coded cards that represent individual scenes or sequences. Please note that Movie Outline is discontinued and no longer supported by the developer. The installation files are not available. You can download another program with similar capabilities like Dramatica Pro.

Screenplay creation

After starting the software users are prompted to create a new project from scratch or choose one of the included templates for different genres such as comedy, horror or thriller. There is the auto complete feature that suggests unique names for characters, locations and other story elements.

The Notes section allows you to write down and brainstorm new ideas. Alternatively, this window may be used for keeping track of the text changes. It is possible to attach images, video clips and documents to the project as well.

Reports

Users can analyze finished scripts to detect plot holes in the story structure, identify character development problems and resolve other issues. Moreover, there are tools for automatically evaluating dialogue balance and scene length.
