Microsoft Entertainment Pack is a Windows software suite that contains multiple games for the desktop. It was designed in the early 1990s and aimed to showcase the capabilities of Windows as an entertainment platform.

Description

The program offers you multiple legendary titles like Minesweeper, Solitaire and Tetris. Every available game has menus, buttons, dialogs and icons consistent with the overall operating system style. Additionally, there is support for sound effects and background music, either through the PC speaker or a sound card. Both windowed and fullscreen modes are available.

Some games allow users to change the difficulty level, speed, graphics quality and other parameters. It is possible to keep track of personal scores and other statistics. Moreover, there are online leaderboards and multiplayer mode for selected titles.

History

These simple games were very popular, and some of them became cult hits. They were bundled with Windows 95 as well as with other products such as Microsoft Plus and Microsoft Works. Several titles were even ported to different platforms like Macintosh, Game Boy Color and Pocket PC.
