memoQ is a comprehensive and robust program for Windows designed to help professional translators work on multiple projects simultaneously. It features support for an extensive amount of languages and provides an intuitive working environment similar to Microsoft Word.

Interface layout

The application comes equipped with a tabbed graphical interface, allowing you to quickly switch between its main sections. These are, namely Translations, LiveDocs, Translation Memories, Term Bases and Muses.

The Dashboard, on the other hand, gives you access to the Frequent Tasks. In the lower panel of the main window, you are able to see the current projects. It is possible to view their completion level, the creation date, the used languages as well as the deadline.

Create and manage projects

In order to create a new project, you can opt for a dedicated wizard, which saves both time and effort. Basically, you will need to input the name, the source and target languages, the client and subject. In addition, you have the option to record the version history of the translated documents.

The next step presupposes importing the files which require translation. The software solution supports a wide range of formats, including DOC, TXT, RTF, PPT, PDF and more. For example, you have the ability to upload documents with the TTX extension generated by Trados. Moreover, you are able to create a Translation Memory or pick an existing one by importing it from CSV or TMX files.

Functionality

While working on a translation, the program displays the text in segments, corresponding to a full sentence. You can merge or split them according to your preferences. If words are detected by the Term Base, the tool provides the available equivalents. Once translation is complete, you may export the text to several bilingual formats.
