MediaDrug is a free music downloader program for Windows. It gives you access to thousands of songs and albums available on the Internet. Unfortunately, the developers ceased supporting the search component. Nevertheless, this application can also be used as a music player.
Interface and functionality
MediaDrug features an intuitive interface that consists of two main panels: the search pane and the player. Starting up the search is very easy, you just need to enter the name of the song or album you want to download and click the corresponding button.
The application will browse the Web and collect the links to the desired items. After it finishes, you can start the file transfer by clicking on the name of the song. Additionally, you are able to drag and drop a selected item to the player and listen to it before downloading.
Additional capabilities
In contrast to Ummy Video Downloader, the search pane uses tabs, so it is possible to initiate multiple searches at once. All the downloads can be found in the manager window. There you are also able to find buttons for pausing or resuming the file transfer.
Moreover, the MediaDrug also works as a powerful music player. It gives users the ability to play songs and whole albums, as well as create custom playlists.
You can configure a few settings from the Options menu. For example, it is possible to control the player with shortcuts and restrict the number of active downloads.
