Keyman is a Windows program for modifying keyboard layouts. Users are able to select any language from a large online library. Moreover, separate keys can be manually reassigned. The full character table with all special symbols is accessible via the system tray icon. Additionally, there is an on-screen virtual keyboard.

Usage instructions

After installing the software you can download and install new keyboard layouts by clicking the corresponding button in the Configuration window. There is an online template collection for a wide variety of languages. Like in Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator, it is possible to manually remap certain keys to better fit your needs.

Users are able to specify shortcuts for opening the configuration menu, displaying the character map and switching between the layouts. Checkboxes for automatically running the utility on system startup and regularly checking for updates are included.

Additional capabilities

This application provides a basic text editor. You can change the size, color and style of the letters as well as align the paragraphs and create numbered lists.

The on-screen virtual keyboard is helpful for working with touch interfaces. There is a Font Helper tool that allows users to identify character sets compatible with the current layout.
