HuffYUV is a Windows utility for decoding movies and clips. You can adjust advanced compression settings and enable logging in a console window.
How to setup
The included archive contains the INF and DLL files. Users are instructed to unpack the contents in any directory on the hard drive.
To integrate the codec in the system you can right-click the INF item and select the Install option. The operation is performed automatically. All major media apps like VLC Media Player and BSPlayer are compatible with this tool. After setting up the utility you are able to play videos encoded in the YCbCr color space.
Settings
There are options for adjusting the compression methods utilized by the software. It is possible to decode the files by predicting median or gradient values. Tools for converting the color space from YUV2 to RGB and vice versa are provided.
Users can enable RGBA compression. This method is utilized for processing the alpha channel data. Logging all operation details into the console window lets users troubleshoot and debug the program.
There is a checkbox to always suggest RGB format for the output signal. This option is helpful for manually enabling the codec in case the media player does not detect it.
Please note that HuffYUV is an obsolete software and no longer supported by the developer.
