HJSplit is a Windows application for splitting files into smaller pieces. Additionally, it is possible to join previously created chunks and recover the original item. There is an option to calculate the checksum for ensuring data integrity.
Main functionality
This program contains easy to use tools that allow users to split items into multiple smaller chunks. This way it is possible to exchange large files over email.
The piece size is adjustable depending on your needs. For example, 700 Mb chunks can be burned on compact discs with the help of Nero. You are able to specify a custom size for sharing information bit by bit over the network.
After receiving all pieces users can click the Join button to collect them back together into one file. It is necessary to choose the first chunk with the .001 extension. The process will start automatically if other pieces are located in the same folder.
Additional capabilities
There is an option for calculating the MD5 checksum for any item. Two files can be compared to each other to find any changes. It is helpful for detecting size differences due to unauthorized modification.
