GNU Go is a Windows application that allows Go enthusiasts to compete against the computer to learn new tactics and practice their skills. The game runs in the command line window.
Instructions
The playing field consists of 19 rows and columns of dots. Users can specify the coordinates for a specific location to place their virtual stones one by one. The main purpose of Go is having more dots on the field in possession than the opponent. This is achieved by encircling custom areas to immediately receive all stones inside them.
This engine is rated as one of the best in the world. It contains information about all known tactics and multiple famous matches.
Please note that this utility is intended only for training Go skills. Chess players can download Chess Position Trainer to study various positions in their favorite game.
Advanced parameters
You can run the main executable file with various arguments to customize the program. For example, it is possible to configure a handicap and board size to personalize the gameplay process. Moreover, there is an option to choose who will have the first move by switching between the black and white dots.
