Using this utility you can generate 3D models based on a spreadsheet with the exact coordinates for every point. There is an option to change the background color.
gbData
gbData is a Windows software for converting Excel spreadsheets with coordinate data to 3D objects. Instruments for zooming in and out as well as for rotating the model are provided. Like in Cortona3D Viewer, users can work with VRML items.
Plotting process
The first step is to import an XLS, VTS or TXT file that contains point coordinates in the spreadsheet form. After that you are instructed to click the Plot Data button to generate the model. Every surface is colored according to the height scale on the right side of the interface. There are control elements for rotating the object and changing the zoom level. Additionally, it is possible to move the model by dragging the mouse cursor with the pressed middle button over the workspace.
Please note that gbData is discontinued and no longer supported by its developer. It cannot be set up in a modern operating system.
Visual parameters
Users are able to switch the background color. Three viewing modes are available: points, wireframe and solid image. The Antialias button is intended for automatically improving the rendering quality.
There are instruments for scaling the model up and down. Moreover, you can compress or expand the 3D object. The Data Distribution Analysis window provides statistical information about the project like the overall amount of points and average object height.
