Flex Builder is a program for Windows intended to serve an integrated development environment for building Flex applications. The developers of this IDE ensure integration with other software instruments you are currently using, including Eclipse and IntelliJ IDEA.

Overview

The IDE solution is based on Dreamweaver MX and includes all the main features. Thus, you are able to create and manage Active Server Pages, Java Server Pages, PHP, ColdFusion, and HTML in your Flex projects. The distribution also relies on widely used standards such as XML, ECMAScript, SOAP Web Services and Macromedia Flash.

Web Services and wizards

It is worth noting that the utility features support for Web Services Introspection to simplify data access. This means you have the ability to introspect a WSDL and automatically generate code to allow for easy invocation and handling of web service operations.

Thanks to in-built wizards, you can connect to your database and produce server-side PHP, Java, ColdFusion, or ASP,NET code to expose your data. These modules also create all of the MXML and ActionScript code required to power a standard Flex application. Please note that this project was superseded by another Adobe product called Adobe Flash Builder.
