The application was designed to help users customize Freelancer in-game maps. Moreover, they have the ability to switch between multiple interface languages.
FL DataStorm
FL DataStorm is a special program for Windows that enables you to read Freelancer data files, including installed mods, and customize map, planet, faction, ship and station data. With the help of this lightweight tool, you can generate a custom map that you are able to import and use in the game.
Import game data
After launching the software solution, you will be greeted with a window that displays the progress on gathering game data from your actual Freelancer datafiles. This takes about sixty to ninety seconds, depending on the modifications you are using. The output information is written to a jet-database in an MDB format. By default the file is saved to your game directory with the name DataStorm.fl.
Customize and print map
The application features a comprehensive graphical user interface. On the left side you are able to see the complete star map of Freelancer. You can use the button located on top to search for stations, planets, ships, equipment and factions. It is also possible to print the actual map. If you want to create a custom base for No Mans Sky, you may use another utility called No Mans Sky Base Building App.
In Show Options sections you may find switches for enabling and disabling some elements shown in that map or selecting another language. Below are the ITAC News which are downloaded from the developer’s server every time you start the program.
