The software distribution which allows you to perform finite element analysis. Additionally, you have the ability to inspect the field and plot contours.
Finite Element Method Magnetics
Finite Element Method Magnetics is an open source finite element analysis program package for Windows. Thanks to this comprehensive utility, users are able to solve various electromagnetic tasks. It addresses 2D planar, 3D axisymmetric linear and nonlinear harmonic low frequency, magnetic and magnetostatic, as well as linear electrostatic problems.
General notes
The software distribution contains a variety of executable components, namely FEMM, Triangle and several Solvers. The first one serves as a multiple document interface pre- and post-processor for different types of problems solved by the tool. It features a CADlike graphical user interface, where you can layout the geometry and for defining material properties and boundary conditions.
What is more, you have the ability to import and facilitate Autocad DXF files. It is necessary to mention that the field solutions may be displayed in the form of contour and density plots. The program also allows you to inspect the field at arbitrary points, as well as evaluate the number of integrals and plot various quantities along pre-defined contours. If you want to perform structural analysis, you may use the application called PROKON.
Divide the the solution
Using the Triangle utility, you are able to break down the solution region into a large number of triangles. This method is an essential part of the finite element process. The Solvers are capable of taking a set of data files that describe the problem and solving partial differential equations to obtain values for the desired field throughout the domain.
