ESX is a program for Windows which was developed to function as a virtualization layer that abstracts CPU, RAM, storage and networking resources into multiple virtual machines. The project ensures reliable performance, scalability and flexibility for company-sized IT applications.

General notes

The software distribution is deployed on the server, and inserts a virtualization layer between the hardware and the operating system. Basically, it partitions a physical server into several secure virtual machines that may be run on the same device.

Please note that each machine represents a complete system with processors, memory, networking, storage and BIOS. By sharing the resources among a number of virtual OS instances, you can increase hardware utilization and decrease costs.

Additional functions

One of the main advantages of using this tool is the ability to save virtual disk items via Fibre Channel or iSCSI SAN protocols. Due to the reliance on a VFMS cluster file system it is possible for multiple installations of ESX server to have access to the same storage. In order to create and manage virtual machines on your PC, you need to download an official program called VMware Workstation Pro.
