This specialized utility is intended for working with dynamic rainfall runoff models. It is possible to simulate single events or calculate long-term consequences.
EPA SWMM
EPA SWMM is a Windows software oriented toward urban engineers. There are instruments for simulating rainfall runoff events and calculating resulting water quality and quantity. Users can plan and test complex drainage systems.
Brief overview
This program was developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency for simulating rainfall models and designing urban drainage layouts. You are able to evaluate the water flow rate, depth and quality in every pipe or channel during various stages of the event.
Please note that EPA SWIMM does not contain river flow calculation tools. Users can download HEC RAS for this purpose.
Simulation
There are instruments for planning stormwater runoff systems, sanitary sewers and other drainage routes both in urban and rural areas. It is possible to use the included development platform for editing input data as well as running hydrologic, hydraulic and water quality tests. The results can be presented in multiple formats such as:
- color-coded drainage area map;
- convenience system plan;
- time graph;
- profile plot;
- and statistical frequency analysis.
Advanced map display options include the fill style, size of various elements and background color. Moreover, you are able to change the arrow design and add personal annotations.
Features
- free to download and use;
- offers you tools for simulating rainfall runoff models;
- it is possible to plan drainage systems based on input data;
- there are flexible visualization parameters;
- compatible with all modern versions of Windows.
