This library contains instruments for sample rate conversion and sound mixing. The number of audio sources is practically unlimited.

The DirectSound architecture offers users a variety of streaming and static sound buffers. Moreover, it is possible to use hardware acceleration if the audio device supports this functionality.

This application programming interface is used for facilitating the data exchange between various utilities and the sound card driver.

It is important to note that this library is obsolete. It was replaced by DirectSound3D in Windows Vista and newer.
