ChordPulse is a Windows program that lets users write music in the graphical interface. Adding custom chords and notes is possible. There is an option to export the project as a MIDI file.

Writing music

This utility offers you a wide variety of styles to choose from. Pop, rock, synth, jazz, country and other genres are included. There are separate sliders for adjusting the volume of drums, bass and chords. Moreover, you can speed up or slow down the tempo.

Users are able to add new major and minor chords to the song. Advanced sound parameters are available. Every note can be inverted and transposed.

A visual MIDI keyboard representation is displayed at the top of the main window. When the song is playing, the active keys are highlighted in yellow. This functionality is helpful for learning the musical instrument.

Please note that ChordPulse does not support input from a hardware MIDI keyboard. There are other music editors with this functionality like KOMPLETE KONTROL.

Additional options

You have access to a library of MIDI samples like salsa, polka, blues, rock, waltz, etc. These songs can be edited and saved as MIDI files for playing on any compatible hardware.

There is a section containing reference tones for different notes. A frequency slider is provided for modulating the music. Buttons for tuning the key shift are included as well.

It is worth mentioning that ChordPulse is a paid software. The free trial version will stop working 14 days after installation.
