Blockbench is a program for Windows intended to serve as a graphics editor. Initially, the project was developed with the goal of creating three-dimensional models for Minecraft, but now it can be used in more areas. For example, it is possible to design maps, characters and other game assets. Created animations may be exported to third-party utilities like Blender.

Modeling

After launching the application, you need to select the type of project. The next step is to create desired 3D models consisting of individual cubic blocks. You are able to rotate, stretch, move, delete and group on-screen objects. A shade selection feature is also available. In addition, you have the option to change the scale, zoom in and out of the image. Thanks to the in-built texture editor, you can make and apply different materials.

Animations and plugins

Another interesting feature of this software is the creation of moving images. With the help of the graphics editor, you have the ability to produce frame-by-frame animations and preview them before saving. Furthermore, the tool allows you to extend its functionality using plugins. These modules may automatically update the appearance of a character or object in accordance with selected textures.
