This Blender plugin is oriented toward biologists and other scientists. It allows users to create 3D models of various molecules and organic structures.
BioBlender
BioBlender is a Windows application that integrates into the Blender graphics editor. With its help you are able to visualize complex molecular structures. It is possible to combine scientific data with artistic tools to produce realistic and accurate representations of various cell types.
Model construction
Similar to RasMol, users can import molecular structures from PDB files or online databases. There are instruments for applying surface properties such as electrostatic potential, hydrophobicity and cavities to any object in the workspace.
This utility lets you add molecular motions based on normal mode analysis or dynamic simulations. Moreover, it is possible to render complex 3D scenes with realistic lighting, shadows, depth of field, motion blur and other visual parameters.
Collaboration
Tools for sharing the project with other people are provided. Users are able to lock individual sections to prevent unauthorized changes. Finished animated structures can be exported as video clips. Additionally, there is an option to save still snapshots of molecules.
