Bandicam is a Windows program for taking screenshots and capturing the contents of the display to a video file. There are flexible output quality parameters. Users can enable mouse cursor click effects for creating tutorials and instructional videos.

How it works

After starting the software you are able to customize keyboard shortcuts for starting and pausing the recording in the Video tab. Moreover, there are checkboxes for adding the webcam overlay and mouse cursor to the resulting file.

Flexible output format settings are provided. Users can choose between the AVI and MP4 video containers. There are customizable resolution, codec and quality parameters. Audio properties such as the bitrate, frequency and channel configuration are included as well.

Please note that the free version of Bandicam leaves watermarks on final videos and images.

Screenshots

Another useful feature of this application is taking screenshots. Like in Free Snipping Tool, you are able to change the hotkey for this function. Checkboxes for adding a logo overlay and enabling the shutter sound. It is possible to record a series of screenshots with a predefined interval.

Available output image formats include BMP, PNG and JPG. The latter option allows users to tune the resulting picture quality.
