Band in a Box is a Windows utility that lets you create and edit musical compositions. There is support for external synthesizers and MIDI keyboards. It is possible to enter chords and pick a song style to automatically generate full backing arrangements.

How it works

This app allows users to create new tracks with the help of various tools. For example, there is an option to draw common chord symbols on a notation sheet. Alternatively, users can attach external digital musical instruments and record the input from them to a file.

The main window contains a toggle for switching between editing the master audio channel, bass, piano, drums, guitar, strings, melody and other tracks. Sliders for adjusting the volume, pan and reverb intensity are included. It is possible to apply a custom style to any fragment of the song.

Tuner

Like in Guitar Pro, there are tools for adjusting the pitch on electric and acoustic guitars. You can view input levels in decibels. The note is in-tune when the pitch indicator is hovering near zero. Granular adjustments can be made manually to finalize the process.
