This software provides an accurate color calibration platform for professional graphic designers, photographers, web developers and printing specialists.
Argyll CMS
Argyll CMS is a Windows application for advanced color management. It is fully compatible with various colorimeters and spectrophotometers such as the X-Rite i1 series, Datacolor Spyder and ColorMunki. Please note that all interactions are performed via the command line console.
Profiling
You can create custom profiles for different monitors, scanners and cameras. It supports multiple color space formats, including:
- Rec.709;
- DCI-P3;
- AdobeRGB and more.
Like in Eye One Match, it is possible to generate tailored ICC files, ensuring precise color reproduction across multiple displays. Additionally, instruments to fine tune white balance, luminance and gamma settings are provided.
Benefits and disadvantages
The utility enhances a wide range of workflows, from basic color calibration to advanced device profiling. Integrated spectral data analysis algorithms are ideal for accurate colorimetric calculations. There is a dedicated online community that provides guidance, scripts and solutions for common challenges as well. However, the lack of graphical interface and limited official documentation might require users to invest time and effort in learning the CLI console.
