Archicad is a Windows software for designing layouts of buildings and other structures. It is based on the Building Information Modeling technology. Users can create and combine construction elements to generate building models.

Development process

After starting the application you are prompted to begin a new project and add required components to the workspace. Multiple element categories such as walls, beams, floors, windows, doors, roofs, columns and ladders are available. Similar to Artlantis, you can add 3D meshes and generate custom lighting sources.

Inserted objects are fully customizable. Users are able to select the type, thickness and shape of the walls. Tools for seamless floor mating are included as well.

It is worth mentioning that the free trial version of Archicad will expire 30 days after installation.

Blueprints

Provided instruments allow you to work with the whole project rather than with separate building components. Due to that fact, all model changes are automatically transferred to the specification and blueprint.

The program offers you tools for generating the construction documentation package. It includes all floor plans, section layouts, blueprints and a visual model of the building.
