Allegorithmic Substance Designer is a Windows software for designing and editing material textures. It is possible to switch between the 2D and 3D views. Resulting materials can be quickly imported into Photoshop, Blender or another similar application.

Texture creation

After starting the utility you are able to drag and drop base materials into the workspace. Available options include asphalt, brushed concrete, carpet floor, gold, marble, plastic, sand, rust, steel, wood and many other surfaces.

Every layer can be configured separately. For example, users can change the stone color, grain intensity, roughness and pattern for the rock texture. It is possible to rearrange and delete individual layers as well.

Advanced settings

There are visual filters for customizing the material even further. You are able to apply embossing, metal finish, paint, perforation, oil paint and other effects. Moreover, instruments for automatically generating patterns like brick wall, pavement, stone wall and parquet are provided.

Users can create and manage multiple material libraries for easier navigation. The maximum texture resolution is 4096×4096 pixels.
