Aku Shaper is a Windows software for creating and editing surfboards. It is possible to manually configure the length and thickness of every element. Both top and bottom views are available.

Design process

The application makes use of bezier curves for adjusting the shape of the board. These fluid continuous lines are controlled through three anchor points that match the input contours exactly. The slice view allows you to create complex concaves and rail profiles. All rough connections between separate board elements are smoothed automatically.

A collection of stock 3D models is available on the official website. Please note that Aku Shaper is distributed on a commercial basis. Users can access a 14-day free trial version only after providing personal credit card information.

CNC machine parameters

Like in VisualMill, you are able to manually adjust both vertical and horizontal hardware clearances. The amount and degree of every cut are customizable as well. Moreover, it is possible to change the default cutting speed and shift all three actuators. There is an option to compare the current design with another surfboard by showing both outlines at the same time.
