ABBYY Business Card Reader is a Windows program that can help you quickly copy personal details and other data from the paper business card to any desktop contact manager.

Text recognition

The tool uses proprietary ABBYY technology for turning text on the scanned image into the editable words. Any recognition errors can be corrected before saving the information.

This program only works with business cards. If you want to convert other documents to the digital format, try ABBYY ScanTo Office.

How it works

Users can either scan the card or open an already scanned image. It is possible to rotate the picture and auto detect the language. After that the tool can process the data. Text fields will be filled automatically with the information from the card such as name, company, address, phone numbers, email and other details.

When all the contact data is entered, you are able to save it in several formats such as vCard, CSV, Salesforce, etc. There is an option for adding the reverse side of a card to the contact. You can add any personal notes as well.

It is worth mentioning that ABBYY Business Card Reader is a paid software. The free version only allows users to save 30 cards and will stop working 15 days after installation.
